This is a quick two parter set in my hometown.
Just for the record this is post chosen, and as always B/X.
Also, so you know, as if you didn't already, BTVS is owned by Mutant Enemy productions and not by me.
This story was inspiered by some of nwhepcat's and nemo-gravis's stories, and I strongly reccomend chchecking them out.

rated 13+ for some language and/or sexual content

Xander squatted a little in front of the young slayer. "Autumn," he said "I'm being straight with you now. This job isn't fun, it isn't easy," he brushes his hand through his hair, indicating his eyepatch with a grimace, "and it certainly isn't safe. But you'll be on a team, with other friends, other slayers, and you'll have me their as well. We can't promise you safety, but we can promise that you will never be alone."
Xander shifted restlessly, his knees aching from being in this position.
"This is a hard life, with few rewards beyond a kinship with others like you. There are no prizes, no medals are given out for saving the world, often times not even a thank you for saving someones life. We work in the shadows, so others can live in the light."
He stands up, "Now, you've slayed a Vampire, you've heard the speech, you know what we're fighting, and most importantly why we fight, Why don't you and your Uncle discuss this overnight. Buffy and I will be in town at the Rennaissance of Asheville for the next three nights, and you can contact me anytime at the number I gave you."
Autumn looked up at him. "Will I be able to come home once in a while?"
"Yes! We aren't taking you away permanently." Xander smiled, "Everyone gets at least four weeks paid vacation every year, staggered, so everyone doesn't decide to take June off. You can go home, or anywhere you'd like. I know of a couple of slayers on vacation in Florida right now. There are phones in every dorm room, and you can call home anytime you feel like it."
"Thanks, I... I guess I should talk to my Uncle Joe before I decide anything." She shook his hand before running off to her uncles waiting car.
Buffy came up to him and they started walking the short disance back to their hotel. "Well, what do you think," Buffy said, "think she'll join up?"
"I don't know, she handled that vamp well, but her Uncle seemed pretty shaken up."
"Yeah, having your whole world view flipped upside down will do that for you." Buffy smirked.
"No, not that, or not just that, he didn't seem that suprised that there really were such things as vampires, I think it just sunk in that his niece was going to be out there fighting those creatures on a nightly basis whether she went with us or not."
"Yeah, who would have thought a small town in North Carolina would have as many creepy-crawlies as this one does?" Buffy said with a smile.
"You up for a patrol, Xander?"
"Yeah, but just a quick one on the way to the hotel, I still want to check out that hot tub in our room. I'm pretty beat."
"You better not be too beat, Autumn and I did all the work tonight mister!" she grinned.
"Yeah, and trying to keep tabs on you both, and reassure Joe, that his niece was in competant hands was exausting enough, thank you." he joked.
"Ooh, I just remembered, there's all the fixings for a margarita in the minibar, how bout you go start up the hot tub, and I'll bring the drinks?" Buffy smiled seductivly, "I won't wear a suit if you won't."
Xander grinned, "All in favor of abandoning patrol for the hot tub and minibar say aye!"
Buffy grabbed the back of his neck and gave him a searingly hot kiss, "Aye" she whispered into his ear, causing his knees to tremble ever so slightly.
Hand in hand they raced back to the hotel.
